PKP “vostok-v” LLC, together with the Department of Bone Oncology SI «Institute of Pathology of the Spine and Joints named after Prof. MI Sytenko National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine», have developed modular systems for the replacement of almost any post-resection bone-articular defect.
Introducing innovations, a complete modular system for endoprosthetics and special instruments for surgical treatment have been created. Surgical treatment is the leading method in the complex treatment of patients with malignant tumors of the long bones of the skeleton. The provision of highly qualified specialized care to such patients is possible only with the availability of modern high-quality implants and instruments.
Until recently, most of the interventions consisted of radical operations – amputation and disarticulation. To date, there is a tendency to perform organ-preserving surgical interventions, in connection with which the issue of replacing post-resection defects that are formed is acute. Considering the high static-dynamic load of these localizations, preference is given to metal structures. These systems satisfy all the basic requirements of individual prosthetics, since they allow intraoperatively assembling any length of the endoprosthesis, depending on the size of the post-resection defects. In the surgical treatment of malignant tumors of long bones, as well as their metastatic lesions, modular structures allow replacing a bone defect of almost any size, preserving the function of the joint and limb, and in a short time to carry out social and orthopedic rehabilitation of patients, which confirms the feasibility of further development of the surgical method of treating bone tumors in the treatment of this pathology.
Benefits
– The shape of the implants is adapted to the peculiarities of the bone marrow canal of the segment on which the operation is performed.
– Elements of modular endoprosthesis systems have a special connection mechanism.
– In the manufacture of endoprostheses, biologically inert non-magnetic materials are used, mainly titanium alloys, with special coatings. The use of innovative ceramic electret coatings can improve the efficiency of surgery and reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
– To form movable pairs of endoprostheses, a high-tech diamond-like coating with an increased mechanical resource is used.
To solve non-standard surgical tasks, a completely individual design and manufacture of endoprostheses based on 3D modeling and 3D reconstruction can be carried out.
